Reading the book has made me really attached to Oscar. I feel for him because he doesn't fit in with his age group and has a hard time talking to people. I feel like one of the main reasons people don't accept him is because he throWS them off guard with his extremely mature language. He is very articulate and precise about everything, and for a nine year old that might make people might feel uncomfortable. At the same time he refuses to curse and substitutes cuss words with others like "shittake".
